Margaret Singer has been studying, writing and teaching about cults for over fifty years. She is a clinical psychologist and emeritus adjunct professor of the Department of Psychology, University of California, Berkeley. In 1978 she was awarded the Leo J. Ryan Memorial Award. Janja Lilich was a member of a political cult for ten years; since she left the group in 1986 she has written and lectured on cults.
Singer and Lalich have produced a book which is not only a thorough expose of cults today, but is extremely readable as well. They discuss cults from a historical perspective, describe the dangers posed to our society by cults, and examine the issues surrounding recovery from cult involvement. This is another must-read.
