1998: Amway and Sidney Schwartz (continued)

In his rebuttal to this attack by Amway, Schwartz pointed out several issues.

  1. Amway has never refuted the information on his web site.
  2. Amway has never pointed out any specific information on the site which is illegal.
  3. Despite requests from Schwartz' attorneys, Amway has never identified anything in his actions or on his site which is actionable.
  4. Amway continues to imply some impropriety or illegality in Schwartz' consulting relationship with P&G.
  5. According to Schwartz, "Amway has never once contacted me to express the slightest bit of concern over the many nasty, obscene and hateful emails, including threats of violence and death, that I've gotten from Amway distributors. Apparently civility and respect don't apply when attacking Amway's critics."
  6. In an attempt to unseal Schwartz' deposition in the P&G case, an Amway attorney informed the judge that Amway was considering possible causes of action against Schwartz, and they want to also investigate people whom Schwartz has communicated with.
  7. Amway's statement claims that they attempted to contact Schwartz, and those efforts were rebuffed. Schwartz maintains that, prior to the subpoena, no employee or officer of Amway Corp. ever contacted him.
  8. While Amway is complaining about Schwartz' "secret consulting relationship" with P&G, it has named him in no lawsuit, and ignores his lengthy deposition about his relationship with P&G.
