Amway Censorship in Poland

If you have enough money, you can eat sherbet in hell.
Old Arabic saying

March, 1998. Amway obtained an injunction to stop a documentary film being shown in Poland. According to an article in the New York Times, June 14, 1998:

"A documentary that takes a caustic look at the Polish operations of the American direct-sales company Amway has set off an unusually strenuous debate here about press freedom.

"The Polish-made film ''Welcome to Life,'' which is dominated by hard-sell pep rallies that are a hallmark of the company and by the motivational jargon of its distributors, was stopped from being shown on television by a court order sought by the company."

More than 50 editors and journalists petitioned President Aleksandr Kwasniewski, according to the article, stating that the ban is reminiscent of the communist regime, and attacking the decision as "preventive censorship."

And remember, Amway is the company that supports Freedom of Speech! Just ask them -- they'll be happy to tell you!
