One Man's Equinox Story

One Man's Story: The Truth About Equinox. . .

Please Note: This page is being posted in order to provide some information about Equinox. In the past several days, I have received a number of extremely abuseive e-mails -- several of them probably from the same person using a variety of faked addresses in response to "One Man's Equinox Story." I am not "One Man." Using the e-mail links on this site will NOT get information to him. I will not post or respond to messages that contain foul language and personal abuse. If you would like to make a civil response, it will be posted.

I achieved a high level in the Equinox company.

My direct 'upline' was Rich Von, one of Bill Gouldd's most aggressive disciples.

I was with the company for almost 2 years, starting with NSA. I then followed over to Equinox when Gouldd broke away from NSA.

I think the worst aspects of Equinox International are typified by Kale Flagg, one of Rich Von's most aggressive sheep rapists.

All he cared about was getting your 5 grand, and getting your family members' 5 grand, and their friend's 5 grand. 5 grand, 5 grand, 5 grand! That's all he does! And once you cough up the 5 grand, its SEMINAR, SEMINAR, SEMINAR! Many thousands of dollars of seminars! Your business still failing? Bring in more sheep!! Still failing? More Seminars!! Still failing? Rent a 'desk' from your local Equinox office, only $500 a month plus hefty business phone costs. And don't mind getting ripped off by 'fellow' distributors, its just obstacles that keep your eyes off your financial goals!

I don't think Kale, Gouldd or any really successful Equinox distributors are truly evil, its just that I think most people can not steel themselves to be so cold hearted, aggressive, and driven to be successful even though the path to their success is littered with the rotting carcasses of the lives of people destroyed on their un-ending quest to get those 5 grand commitments.

Here are some viscious psychological tactics they use to get you to sign up:

  1. Appearances are Deceiving. Use them! This tactic revolves around the 'fake it till ya make it' philosophy. Always follow the dress code, were lots of quality fake jewelry, put expensive trappings on your person and in your offices, drive a car you cannot afford, max out all your credit cards so you can look like a millionaire, because there is power in "O.P.M." (Other People's Money) Remember: MOST people in the Equinox Offices look pretty successful, but in reality most are grubbing for their sandwich for that day. I recall from the 20/20 interview it was mentioned that the average cash income for the average Equinox Distributor was estimated to be about $500 per year.
  2. When your target victims are with you in the office in front of the 'briefing' (sales pitch), always sit up straight, raise your hand and nod when queued by the speaker, and always act excited (even though you've heard it a million times).
  3. Shut up. Always let others talk to your 'marks'. They have been trained to 'edify' you and the speaker, always saying great things about you to your 'marks' when you have stepped away. Its a game they always play in the Equinox Offices. Deadly effective!
  4. The Marketing Plan is a sham. They say you need 5 Grand to be a "Manager", and 25 Grand to be a "Director". The truth of the matter is: If you are a Director, you can assign the rank of Manager to anyone as you so choose to motivate your downline. If you are higher than a Director, you can assign anyone in your group to be a Director. Its amazing what some people can get away with. I've heard that some ranks are handed out in exchange for sexual favors, but I cannot confirm it myself. I don't doubt it one bit though.

Although I found Bill Gouldd's seminar circuit very educational, after 18 Basic Building Blocks, 2 Advanced Basics, 3 Perpetual Money Machines, and 2 Journey Beyond Perceptions, (Total costs: about $20,000 not including all travel, food and lodging expenses) that I finally realized that the entire industry of MLM is an extremely difficult occupation to pursue. I was a slow learner in this respect!

To be successful, you must be a heartless, sheep raping bastard. And, you must go out and find other heartless, sheep raping bastards to get rich!

The sheep, of course, are just average people taken with the idea of being their own boss, and dreaming of financial independence. These people will never become evil enough to get rich, and god bless them! But, they can kiss their thousands of dollars goodbye.

They will spend thousands on over-priced products that will move slowly, and their 'downline' will suffer from attrition. They will spends thousands on seminars, hoping that just that one last bit of education will explain why their business is failing. A few will find partial success, but the aggressive seminar schedule (that is making millions for Gouldd and his cronies) will suck up all but the most spectacular profits.

The worst part is (after the dust has settled and you have consumed, given away, liquidated or tossed all the worthless trappings of your home business experience) the horrendous damage done to your own 'warm market'. Your friends and family, and people you know, and anyone you talked to about the business opportunity, will never look at you the same. Many have stopped speaking to you all together. You may have divorced your spouse because 'they didn't see it', as your business was more important than your marriage.

And then, you can forget about approaching them on any future opportunities, regardless of how valid they are. Your 'warm market' is dead forever. If you're lucky, you still have your spouse, friends, and a job. Many will find that after their Equinox Experience, they may have nothing.

I consider my self very lucky. I still have some friends left, and an engineering job that pays $43,000 a year. Far more than your average Equinox Distributor, whose average income is way into the negative, after seminars and business expenses.

Feel free to post this anywhere.
