Another "Founding Family" Member Leaves Alticor/Amway/Quixtar

Dave Van Andel, son of Amway co-founder Jay Van Andel, has left the company. He follows on the heels of his sister Nan, who was moved out of her executive position with the company last June.

Claiming a desire to pursue "other business interests," Van Andel resigned less than four months after being named Chief Operating Officer of Pyxis Innovations Group, the smallest of the organization's spinoff companies.

In October, 2000, the company announced a major restructuring. The new company, called "Alticor" includes four subsidiaries: Amway, Quixtar, Access Business Group, and Pyxis Innovations. Access Business Group is now the manufacturer of what used to be Amway's products, and offers its expertise and automation in warehousing and delivering in business-to-business sales. Pyxis is supposed to be the "corporate development" arm.

Only three family members are now left to run Alticor/Amway. They are Dick DeVos, president of Alticor; Steve Van Andel, chairman of Alticor; and Doug DeVos, Amway's chief operating officer. A replacement for Dave Van Andel has not yet been announced.
