Double Eagle Marketing Permanently Shut Down In Texas

May 9, 2001

Attorney General John Conryn announced today that a permanent injunction has been filed against Double Eagle Marketing.

A Final Judgment and Permanent Injunction against defendants Scott and Tami Anderson prohibits them from operating promotional pyramid schemes.

Double Eagle, which had recruited members via the internet, must provide refunds to victims, and reimburse the State of Texas $5,000 in attorney fees.

The Killeen-based operation had paid recruiting fees, and was based on a perpetual chain of new recruits, using their joining fees to pay commissions to people farther up the chain.

This was the first successful prosecution by the Texas Attorney General's office using its new Internet Bureau.
