Penny's Story

My name is Penny. I was an active Amway distributor for 4 years. I live in Pennsylvania and was part of the Britt Worldwide AMO (Bill Britt System). I am currently inactive.

And this is my story.

The purpose of telling my story is to help those who have been hurt in any way by being in an AMO (Amway Motivational Organization). It is also to help people make an educated decision before they become distributors.

A salesman he met while shopping contacted my husband. We received a call one Sunday evening from this stranger who asked my husband if he was open minded to making extra money outside of what he does full time. Of course he's open minded - so he said yes. This man (who later became our sponsor) met my husband at a local fast food restaurant and showed him a brief overview which basically explained nothing. I couldn't attend this initial meeting as I was taking a night class. We talked about it when I got home, and my husband told me he was going to a meeting at a local hotel to find out more information. The only thing I knew at that point was this business was network marketing. My response, "Oh - it must be Amway." I had never heard of Amway and I had never "seen the plan" at that point. I don't even know what made me assume it was Amway. My husband went to see the plan at the hotel and was the only guest there. (That should have been a hint right there!) Sure enough - it's Amway.
