Re: Happy Exes

We too were brainwashed. We have the same story as you do. We ended up in bankruptcy, which nearly cost our marriage of nearly 20 years. I concur to all you said. there is not enough space to tell our story. By the way, our ruby up line divorced his wife after we spent ( on credit cards) 3500.00 to get them 'over the hump' so we would get more help to make direct! A friend in another 'leg' told us about Melaleuca. We said, no way, had enough! We enrolled and love it! It is really worth checking out. Us ex amscam people do really well with it. It's no MLM! You can't buy your way anywhere in this. They know about amway and how many people's lives have been ruined. It is a wide open market here. We want a successful business too. We don't want to have to work for slave drivers the rest of our lives. We are sure this is the way to go. Look up the Melaleuca Business Opportunity in your searcher.

Hi there! I was just checking out your sight, and I have a quick question or two for you if you don't mind. Were you involved in the Britt System? And would you mind telling me what your upline sponsorship was (Paul Miller, Larry Winters, Joe Markiewicz)? Thanks so much in advance for the info.!

Re: Help

HI,

Just wanted to know if you have any suggestions - how do you combat Amscam when anything negative said about Amway reaffirms what upline has told them??? Can anything be done? Or is it best to assume that those sucked in will just get sucked in by the next scam to come along if and when they see reality??? Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed...all of the cult pages assume that the loved one wants to leave already and haven't been of much use to me...Thanks in advance,

Part II

Thank you for your reply...I was engaged to someone who was an "inactive" distributor until after we were engaged. I guess he then felt that he was free to spend his time "growing his business." (I suspect that his upline also convinced him that he needed to build for the future of his family.) He suddenly had a marked change in personality...he had no time to do anything but Amway. I believe he joined in 1995. He goes to weekly local meetings to show the plan, goes to weekly telephone support group meetings where they get together to call prospects and he goes faithfully to all of the big Britt quarterly meetings. He is on standard tape order and has Amvox. In summary, he has fallen into this very, very deep. He is much too defensive to admit any losses...I have had my own legitimate, successful business for five years. I broke off the engagement when I discovered that Amway was obviously a higher priority than our relationship. One other complicating factor is that his mother is his sponser. His mother left him and his father when he was fifteen. She and her daughter spent years travelling around the country while she sought to find herself. Now, she is in the national capitol, her daughter is in Boston and he is still in Pa with the rest of his family. I thought that the geographical distance between him and his mother would keep her to herself. Obviously, his mother didn't help our relationship.

I can't help but wonder if there is a character flaw that has allowed him to become so blindly involved? If so, wouldn't he simply replace Amway with some other cult when reality strikes? I assumed that the answer to both of the above questions would be yes...then I found all of the information on the net and saw that many other people are in the same situation. Certainly, most of these people seem to be sane, decent people who have been misled and eventually realized that they were simply being used. What is your impression?

I also wonder how long he can continue to deceive himself? It seems that there are people on the net who continued to delude themselves for many, many, many years. I see no evidence that he is about to admit defeat. Are there any clues that distributors are beginning to doubt the dream? Are there any ways to instill or encourage that doubt? I believe that he had very poor self esteem and that they are encouraging this although they have him convinced otherwise. If a distributor is doing nothing else that he is happy about, he is not allowing "outsiders" to truly build his self esteem. Any insights?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may offer. As I mentioned, I was greatly comforted by reading all of the internet Amscam information. It helps to know that you are not alone.

I was so interested in your site. My brother and his wife have bought into the Amway bull-shit hook, line and sinker. Their house is falling apart and they never have any money even though my brother has a graduate degree, his wife has a bachelors degree and he has a very well paying job.Their house is bursting with Amway products, they spend many days a meetings and "Functions", and the children are ignored. How can I reach them?

Thank you for your prompt response. My family all felt that the purpose of the distributorships in Amway was to sell the tapes and conferences ("functions"). The person that they mention the most as the leader is Dexter Yager. Please advise.

Re: Nightmare not over yet!

I came to my senses after being involved with Equinox for 8 months! Found myself $20,000 poorer and part of an ongoing leasehold even after quitting the company entirely-the nightmare will continue until the lease is up! The executive director left owing over $400 in back phone bills in my name and will not pay - he just moves on to another sucker! And the other leaseholder won't pay back bills either! They have a talent for evasion of responsibility - and do not care whom they hurt in the process! And---there you are---defenseless and broke!!!

[This guy claims to be going Diamond in two months. Do you believe him???]

Re: Losers

I'm sorry to hear about your failure to plan your Amway business better. If you're too stupid to realize that you have to pay for the thingss you charge on your credit card, you probably don't belong in Amway anyway. You're like the couple who kept writing out cheques - not because there was money in the account - but because there were cheques left in the cheque-book. Amway is not a get-rich-quick scheme, it's hard work. My first three years in Amway were miserable failures, but now I'm going Diamond in two months. Stop being bitter. In stead of bitching about amway, get off your butts and be someone. Let's love it guys, think big and GO <>.

Well, there's always one post that I can't leave alone. My comments are in [].

Your story about Amway and the negative concerns to tool flow absolutely sickens me.

I have achieved a high level in the Amway Opportunity. I have enough experience to judge your comments about the corportation and or the opportunity.

The Amway business promotes FREE ENTERPRISE in America. It is for your knowledge the only Corp. responsible for producing more people who generate $100,000.00 a year than any other Corp. in America today.

[Really? Where do you get these figures from? If it's true, why is "Amway Distributor" not listed as one of the top money-earning professions in Forbes, Money, and other reputable magazines. Have you read The Millionaire Next Door? The authors have been studying wealth in America for over 20 years. They don't mention an Amway distributorship as the road to creating wealth either. Hmmm.]

Thank God that people who paid the price for success can create incomes from their successes via videos, tapes, books and major functions. No different than Zig Ziggler, Anthony Robins or even Michael Jackson.

[Very different from Zig Ziglar, Anthony Robbins and Michael Jackson. When you buy one of their tapes, they don't stand there with crocodile tears glistening in their eyes while they tell you that they produced that tape out of the goodness of their hearts to help you be successful. You know, when you buy a tape from Ziglar et al that they earn their living that way. The Diamonds tell you they make their living from Amway. Truth is not the same as a lie.]

Remember what FREE ENTERPRISE represents.

As far as your concern for gaging or any of those other terms of resitrictions to new Amway businesses go. There are no differences between that, than joining any other franchise opportunity such as McDonald's after investing over a million dollars for it.

You are via WWW are creating worry, doubt and fear to the public eye.

[If Amway and the Amway Motivational Organizations really ran an ethical business the way they claim, there would be no way I could create worry, doubt and fear in the public eye. You don't like my website? Then clean up your business. And, by the way, my website doesn't jump out at people from behind the potted palms at the mall, or come on to them in church about a great "Christian" business. The only people who find this information are the ones who go looking for it.]

It's your attitude that will keep you down in life complaining about situations that you are not in control over.

[There is a big difference between complaining and disseminating information. Remember, "facts are your friends." Yager's tame author, Ron Ball says that.]

Why don't you invest your time in creating strong economic values for America and your family than waisting the space on the WWW and waisting time for everyone else.

[Hey, you came visiting me. I didn't go looking for you.]

Let's see how many people complain when you make your first 10 Million Dollars. Let's see how many people will sue you for creating opportunity for the world to succeed for who ever shall dare to dream.

I challenge you to pull away from your selfish concerns and help other people succeed in their lives!

[I challenge you to re-examine the issue of selfish concerns and helping others. I am not using relationships with family and friends as a stepping-stone to financial success. I am providing this website as a public service, and many people have been helped by it. How many people have YOU helped?]

I hope you will be able to sell books, tapes, videos and major functions and create millions from it so that it would reflect the thousands of people you are helping. Helping their self confidence, helping their self esteem grow and watching them achieve their dreams and more importantly allowing them to help others grow.

GROW UP! AND START LIVING AND STOP COMPLAINING!

[Ummm, I'm not the one complaining. You are.]

Make a million by helping a million!

Re: Herbalife

I have just spent hours and hours reading your pages. I agree wholeheartedly with everything anyone who HAS been in Amway and no longer is has said. I hated the mindset, the fawning "prayers" to a FatherGod of $$$, the constant harping on materialistic goals and the misogyny of the organization from the outset, but I desperately desired the freedom they hung out in front of me. At my insistence, we tried to go core but honestly couldn't afford it. Thank all that is good that we had just recently declared bankruptcy (our daughter's first two weeks of life were in an ICN...what was left after the insurance company had paid was still more than we made in a year...and we already had two other babies in diapers) so we couldn't max out credit cards or sell anything to buy more crap from them. My husband showed one plan. We lured our friends into the business...we are so fortunate that all but two of them are still friends..and NONE of us is in "the business" anymore. I mainly stopped here looking for information about Herbalife. I've been taking the products for a week now and have lost 12 inches and 8 pounds. (I'm fat, honey:)) But I don't want anything to do with this if it's just more of the same old pyramid cult stuff. I didn't find any references to bad experiences on your website. I'll do a websearch after I've sent this, but I was hoping, if you had any knowledge or links you could pass on, you would be so kind.
