Within 36 months' you will be forgotten by your followers'. I beleive it's doubtful, at best, that you will be the first in history to have a monument raised to your criticism. This beautiful concept called QUIXTAR will prove itself to be a program that automatically weeds out stupid people, and, blind negativity. It does'nt appear that you, or the ones' you are currently pruning, will find out, until later, that, once again, you've missed the proverbial boat. Thankyou for helping us. We need you to do more for as long as you can.

Re: Skybiz, Quixtar

Have you heard of this new (started a year ago) MLM company? I went to a presentation out of curiosity. You pay $100 and get two 15 Meg. space websites. The company provides software to build your website within about 20 minutes. However, you have to pay another $100 dollars the next year to renew. The MLM part is that you get two people to join, and then the upline does the rest by helping you place people in different legs. Once you have reached 50 people, you get $600 and then start over again (Orbit) but keep the people in your first "Orbit" They guy who presented apparently was in Equinox (didn't say it, but I found out later) and did well, but quit and now is with SkyBiz. They claim they are the fast growing company and your profit is quicker and more than other MLM's.

I found it funny how they presented a big meeting in a University setting where young feeble minds don't do their research about various companies. There are MLM's that work, but do the research and think for yourself. The whole scene was mass recruiting and I actually had a guy who undercut his "friend" to try and get me signed up in his group!

I believe there is more money to be made on E-commerce rather than building websites and that is the only reason I joined Quixtar. It's the most simple shopping experience I've had. I get things delivered in two days...you think I wasted my time and energy at the shopping mall for Christmas?? NOT. I buy many of my personal products from Quixtar/Amway b'cos they are actually good and buy other things from partner stores like OfficeMax, CD Universe, Land's End,and Paul Fredrick's. It's good to know that they are continually upgrading the site and technology. I work as a computer web-consultant and I know the difficulty of creating e-commerce sites and am impressed with Quixtar's endevour

The MLM part of Quixtar is working great for me since my group is incredibly down to earth and still successful. I've been to a few large meetings and conferences and have never felt pressured into doing something I didn't think was right. Some of the tapes actually are quite beneficial when it comes to give me advice on how to build the business. I'm self motivated and educated enough to not buy tons of tapes and books. I might not agree with everything they say, but I keep things in prespective and think logically about how to run the distributing business. Quixtar hasn't taken over my life like Amway might for others. I keep it simple, up front and my honesty has been paying off. It's a simple concept but abused by many greedy people and I haven't let them run my life. Quixtar is just overall more effecient than the Amway set up.

I'm sorry to have heard about your misfortune with Amway, but good luck in whatever endevour brings you true happiness. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to be a part of a great group of people.

Take care

I wish I knew more about you...for my understandings sake. I don't know what your background is or what kind of life you have lead...I will assume...and I am sure this is close to reality...that you are somewhat religious, a professional...etc...etc...as opposed to uneducated and believe in nothing.

I believe that the convictions you live by are what drive you and motivate you. I also believe that there is one universal law of life. And this is it.

" As human beings we will either positively of negatively effect the world around us. And as human beings there is an inner core need to make things happen in the world around us. "

If we can't make a positive or uplifting impression on the world around us...we, then begin to feel unwanted and under appreciated and begin to gain attention in negative ways.

Don't underestimate what I just wrote. If not understood, there will be little for you to understand about human behavior. I have personally witnessed counselors and even psychologists trifle because of there lack of understanding of this simple rule.

If your so sure that it is AMWAY and QUIXTAR that is truly to blame...Or...anyone in the system then why is it that you aren't out doing this to the government...or ...the corporate world ... or... countless charitable organizations...Why ???

Simple answer...

These institutions do more good than they do bad. They are doing it legally ! You can't take away that rite.

Understand...I have been educated in psychology...only to be enlightened by Anthony Robins, Norman Vincent Peal, Jesus Christ, Steven Covey...and YES...Dexter Yager.

Every great man or woman will be the sum of there understanding of other great people.

Again, I wish that I knew you and your story. I want to think that you are just another AMWAY Basher...but...your probably are a well respected person...maybe even a professional...giving and caring mother...etc...etc...or...then you may be a self indulgent, unhealthy person...who spreads stories of bad customer service...how this or that person has bad hair, or how they have this thing and that thing...gossiping and talking about everything negative in there little circle of influence.

It's funny...We will go on, you doing the same thing with your web page and I building the thing you dislike. I will meet more people and help them do the same. You will believe that I am somehow scaming them and I, of course, will not believe that. I will go on and the flame of dislike for AMWAY will grow stronger and stronger for you. You will believe that I and people like me will somehow hurt other people...Like you were hurt.

How really different are we...?

Convictions are motivators...motivators drive us. The convictions you have drive you to take down what is up...deflate dreams that are inflated...and take away what has been built by dedication, teamwork and hard work. My relationship is much better because of this journey in AMWAY and QUIXTAR...Kristen and I work as a teem, we will continue to work as a teem...because of this system for success we have tapped into.

The system...hasn't given up on you...You gave up on it.

God doesn't stop loving you...You will only stop loving him.

The system for success will make people, who work it, successful.

Life will give in direct accordance to what you put into it.

The bad...huh...what ??? I do not see the bad in things...

I stand for my country... I believe in the constitution.

I know...I'm a dying breed. Or am I ???

Is AMWAY, QUIXTAR...a place where this country can become united...White, Black, green, purple or blue.

You may mock me for believing...but I do...and I will. You represent a duality, you will drive more people to become successful in A2K QUIXTAR than you want to admit, by you web page.

I can make cheep remarks to... " Your rewarded for putting up a web site that accomplishes the opposite of what I was intended !"

We all have to be something...And you and I aren't really very different

One thing is for sure...I will never be the leader of the club of people who quit on themselves.

MLM Survivors ... You are really trying to make it sound like you survived something like a war.

You Quit...you weren't invaded...War wasn't declared on you...You weren't part of some oppressed Nation.

I'm being way to understand of you and your cause...

Your putting yourself in your own private hell and your starting to invite others in...

You just need to let it go...

This is pitiful...

Re: Equinox

HELP!! I became involved with Eqinox mid-year 99. After doing exactly what I was told for several months without any results and experiencing health problems I got out. I returned several thousand dollars worth of product for a refund which they said would be sent in 60 working days. When that date passed they told me it would be 90 working days. They have my products and my money and it appears that they have no intention of refunding my money. What do you suggest that I do?

Re: Amway

I have just read an article in the skeptics dictionary. Who ever wrote it is talking a load of twaddle. Amway is a dinosaur within the industry. Whilst I agree that they are more focussed on recruiting people and forcing them to buy 'the tools of the trade' such as tapes and books, it does not apply to every company that decides to move product through word of mouth reccomendation. I have been with an MLM company for approx 14 months.I have had no previous experience with any other MLM company. The company I chose to ally myself with is most definately product driven. there has never been any pressure to buy tapes or books, allthough there are available if required. I am happy with the progress I have made and my business will continue to grow. I wish you all well with your negative atitude to this wonderful industry. Obviously you won't enjoy the finacial freedom I shall be enjoying in the near future.

Re: Amway/Quixtar

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with MLM and Amway. I was in Amway around 1987, and out of Amway around 1987. I did not need to have that much work taking orders, delivering, bookkeeping, etc , while I was starting my practice. Recently I was approached on Quixtar, and liked the concept. I have to admit as hokey as some of the things sound - like listening to tapes, and going to meetings, I have seen a steady growth in my business. I also enjoy the convenience of buying online. I would like to know where you get your statistics. You say something about taking the corporations statistics at face value, but are we not doing so with you. Every side has it's own bias. It does appear that you are on a giant witch hunt in that you are nitpicking about statements that Quixtar puts out, but it does not seem that anyone has lost any sums of money here as they would with, lets say an illegal pyramid scheme. I paid to register, and after that, I get what a order. And $70.00 of my registration fee goes to products I use. I am far happier with this than say B.J's Wholesale Warehouse, which is a rip-off. At least here, I am building an income. You made some mention of people doing this as mindless, or something to that effect. I imagine I have a lot more education than anyone you know, including yourself, and graduated with top honors. Your site may have some useful information, but the chip you have on your shoulder bias' it too much. Sincerely,

Part II

It is my understanding that Amway cleared the investigation by the FTC. If it were an illegal pyramid, it would have been dealt with then.

As far as your inside knowlege by working for a diamond, if one was to work for a crooked attorney - does that make them all crooks. I'm sure that there are good and bad diamonds.

I don't feel I am being sucked into anything. I don't expect to get rich quick, and know it will take time to develop a large organization. I am looking for people who want the convenience of shopping at home as members, and others looking for a part time business as IBO's.

It just seems that you had no real dirt on the Quixtar company or program other than nitpicking about how many hits/day and how large they are. I could care less about their claims on that, I like the site and the stores, and the products.

You spend an enormous amount of time trying to save people in a quest, and you seem quite obsessed with it, that is why I refer to a "chip". I am not saying that people should not be informed of real scams, but here I get what I buy, nothing more or less. I see no harm in it. There are plenty of government and private consumer protection agencies. That and common sense should protect the majority. The rest may end up buying someone's bridge in brooklyn, unfortunately.

I do appreciate what you are trying to do, but feel with Quixtar you just are nitpicking, with no real stuff of substanance.

My Best

Re: Amway/Quixtar

I don't know where you dig up all this garbage. You must be getting paid from an Amway competitor. I've been in now for six years. We went direct after 3.5 years. I retired my wife, got out of debt, moved into a house double the size. I learned about money, business, relationships etc.. Any business has expenses. It did take hard work, but I enjoyed it because it was so challenging.

Re: TPN

Hi there, I was surprised that you didn't have anything on your site about TPN. I got the satellite dish, became a distributor etc. Well I didn't have a regular job to pay for the $50 per month autosuck from my bank account. They have all the standard motivational talking heads on their network...a few of them are actually useful, like Les Brown. But, you have the same arguments as the other MLMs against them. I lost all my friends from trying to get them in TPN cuz I believe they had a good product in the programming, not the rest of the peripheral stuff. Then I had to watch John Bradshaw's shows on TPN to get over the personal hurt. If I had fifty bucks a month to blow, in order to suck butts with other yuppies at these confabs, it wouldn't be so bad.

I'm working as a paralegal coder at a temp job, looking at King Tut's original oil lease (I have a J.D. & a B.A.) and my temp job that started in Oct. ends this Friday. Oh well.....

Thanks for the site.

Re: Quixtar

Hi,

I checked out your link to ZDNet's rating of the worst web sites. Quixtar is not in the top ten, but rather in 19th place, and that's quite understandable for a new site of the magnatude that Quixtar is. I'm sure you understand, being a computer whiz, that new sites have to work out the bugs and the design problems before they become great. And by the way, don't blame Amway for that, blame Microsoft and IBM, they're the ones that designed the site. But I'm sure you knew that already, even though you didn't mention it.

Higher on the were, Nike, JCPenny, Clinique, Blockbuster and Levi's. Also on the list below Quixtar were, Neimanmarcus, Lycos, Logitech, Gap, Starbucks, Swiss Army, Macy's and Wal-Mart. Seems like pretty good company to be in to me! But I'm sure you think they're all rotten companies as well, don't you? Really let's have no more scams!

[This writer was looking at an ALPHABETICAL list of the "worst" websites on ZDNet, not their "Ten Worst" list, which Quixtar graced for quite a number of weeks. They have since discontinued this feature.]

Our family has been approached by another MLM company on the net. It's already caused great troubles and fights in our family. This is the address:

http://www.your.net/yourn/index.asp

This is just for your information so that you'll know of another site. I'm so thankful I found your site and will read as much info as I can in order to help those in our family that will be willing to listen to it before they get burned.

Part II

Thanx for responding back. I was afraid at first of sending you that e-mail for fear it would be taken or thought of as something else than what it was. No, this organization is not what it's cracked up to be. I personally know the people who have started it and it's a classical MLM. The only one who will win here is the owner! This outfit has caused such division in our family.

Re: Market America

Recently a friend of my fiance's stopped over and wanted us to join their business, she came with tapes, books, testimonials and bragged that she will be making $104,000 by the end of the summer. She did show us the pyramid chart and explained how it works, you have to make your downside grow and you have a left and right side that needs to be strong,( things like that ) She stated that they had not affiliation with Amway and she said that this was different. To start you need to invest about $250.00 to get the kits and go to meetings and seminars which also is our expence. This looks like a lot of work and money to waste, is this a scam or is it for real? It almost sounds like some sort of cult. I am very sceptical but unfortunately me fiance wants to to a meeting and maybe join. Have you heard of Market America and if so do you know the backround of it?

Re: Quixtar

The sinking of Quixtar continues. Down to #809 in January's pcdata online survey. Keep up the good work. Maybe after this fails, Amway itself will begin to falter.

Re: Amway/Quixtar

Hi!

I read your story... very depressing. Sounds like your troubles began long before Amway and continued long after. Sincerely hope you are able to find help.

There are many positive articles about Quixtar... one in particular that comes to mind, January 2, 2000 issue of The New York Times, ranks Quixtar 5th behind sites like Amazon and JCPenney. Why don't you include that and others on your article list?

I hope you find happiness in something productive and stop blaming others for your troubles.

Sorry the truth hurts. Take care,

Part II

<<Thanks for visiting the MLM Survivors Homepage, and for taking the time to write.>> You are welcome... I'll refer people to your site if you refer people to mine (haha).

<<Was that published in their online version? Do you have a URL for it?>> I just looked for it online but did not find it. I found the article (New York Times - Sunday, January 2, 2000) in our local library. It was buried in the back where most of the positive articles about Quixtar usually are located. The article ranks Quixtar but I don't think it mentions it in the body of the article. Sorry I did not keep it. Also, there are a couple of magazines that might interest you... Business 2.0 and Network Marketing Magazine. Business 2.0 seems to be fairly balanced when it has referred to Quixtar... both positive and negative. It is a very informative magazine. Network Marketing is a little fluffy for my taste. I think they say wonderful, glowing things each month about a different MLM in order to hype up people in those businesses to buy their magazine.

<<Your assumptions are completely unwarranted.>> You are correct... that was an unfair assumption on my part. I apologize.

<<The TRUTH is that while working for 5 years for my upline diamond, I found out about widespread frauds and deceptions throughout the AMOs.>><< Just because you don't know about them doesn't mean that they don't exist or that they aren't true.>> I do not question the "truth" of your story about your former upline and upline organization. The type of fraud and deception you mention may even occur upline from me. I do not know for sure one way or the other. Go ahead... call me naive but I strongly doubt it. Would it bother me if it does take place? Yes, of course. Would it stop me from continuing to build my own successful business? Not a chance! Why? Because I did not get in this business for them, I got in it for me and my family. And yes, I will continue the tape of the month, the book of the month, and the regular meetings... NOT because my upline told me to (if you knew me and my personality better, you would know this is a fact). I will continue them because they are valuable assets to my business and personal and professional growth. Does my upline make money on the tapes, books and seminars? I hope they do or they're not as smart as I think they are.

Ruth, I really do wish you happiness and, again, apologize for my earlier assumption. Take care!

Sincerely,

You are probably right... we won't agree on too much. You may believe that your knowledge on specific facts entitle you to do as you do. Nonetheless, the fact is that you don't "know all" of what is transpiring and you do give a slanted opinion whether you think so or not. It comes out plainly in your tone. ...and it does slant the views of people who would have otherwise been associated with some fine people. You have no real accountability in that sense, and as I said before, I believe that is wrong.

If abuses exist, then so be it. You cannot protect "everyone" at the expense of others. I don't know what line of business you are in.... but if I picketed your business just because I happened to be burned by someone in the same line of business in the name of "everyone should know of the abuses in that industry", I bet you might see the effects of such unaccountability.

In all my travels I have seen many great monuments errected to pay tribute to human achievement. I don't see any such for critics. Perhaps it is because when all is said and done, the people who did win were smart enough and honest enough to know who the scam artists and the critics were. I think people are pretty smart. It is the government, I found, and like your "mission", that think people are stupid. Life is not "fair". You will never make it so. It is an impossible task.

Re: Equinox

Hi, I went searching under the word "equinox" because a couple of months back, I bought one of their showerheads. Since the result was not what I expected, I called up the representative who sold it to me, and she was very positive about it, and wanted to replace it right away. So weeks went by without a word mfrom her. I finally called her back up, a month later, and she said she had been busy. She said again that she would call me and come and replace the showerhead. The other day I tried calling her again, and the number was no longer in use. So I went and got my phonebook and called the company, but the same thing happened, the phonenumber was no longer in use. So here I am, with a 100 dollar worthless showerhead, and nowhere to bring it back. I feel mislead, how can a buisness that claim they are so good be so bad?

Re: AMO expenses

What is "AMO". "forced to spend" ?? I get a couple tapes a week, have a voice mail account, go to a monthly seminar. Thats a drop in the bucket compaired to other small business expenses.

It was not easy. It took total focus. But what the heck. I love a challange.

Re: Quixtar

Thanks for the reply. It's my mistake about including Land's End on that list. I was actually looking at the Land's End catalog when I was emailing you and wanted to say Geoffry Beane. I have heard that Land's End will be joining...but nothing definite as of yet. Even if they didn't join, Quixtar does have some good quality stores that have signed up.

I had been approached about Amway for many years, but joined Quixtar when I figured it will be Amway, but much more effecient. The choice of many stores and products other than just Amway make it much better. Like it or not...it is a great idea.

Just wanted to add that I do like the information on your website. It's always good to give someone the other side of the story. Amway loyals will alway back them up and those with bad experiences will do the opposite. That's what i love about this country...the right to choose!!

Take care.
