Re: MLM

I can understand you feeling this way because I used to feel the exact same way. As I grew in MLM all together, .. I'm not concerned with lies people tell about their lives or how they built the business.. or whatever.. belief is a choice. As far as telling the truth, if what you're saying is true ~ I can see where fabricating certain things can be helpful to someone who is discouraged.. kinda like sharing a story with a child from your childhood that never really happened, just to help the child through a rough time .. . this is something all parents have done at one time or another.. ~ deception is a "person" thing, not a corporation thing. Therefore, in my opinion, the Quixtar.com corporation cannot be held responsible for every word out of the mouth of independent contractors. Self-serving propoganda is something that all business owners are guilty of, in my opinion.

<<Just don't fall into the trap of believing everything you're told on tapes and from stage, because a lot of it is made up on the spur of the moment.

I used to feel the same way. At this point, I don't care if what the people on stage and/or tape are saying is true on not true about their lives. That's their prerogative. My goal is to build a very large network of people who want to make money. They too have the choice to believe or not, the stories they're being told. All the factual information is available through quixtar.com. (:

Thanks for responding to my email. You seemed very offended. You and I are more alike than we are different. We're both succeeding in something we believe in. I wish you the very best of luck.

Re: IPSUM in Russia

Hi Folks,

Wonderful site. I have a niece who is being sucked into an MLM scam out of Russia. The company is called IPSUM and they are selling ISP service and gadgets which connect you to the net. She has spent the last two months working her butt off trying to get others into this group and hasn't earned a penny. In fact, she pays the company $30 a month just to be a "member." The whole thing stinks.

Do you know anything about this organization?

Many thanks,

Re: Amway/WWDB

Ruth, Whats going on with the legal threats, can you give me more details. I havent been able to get a hold of my uncle so I'll keep trying. I think that I am going to put out a web page telling people what I'm planning to due with this whole thing. Please give me input. Maybe we can work together on this. I was talking to my upline emerald and he is scared of me now. I told him some of what I am planning to do. He said that amway and world wide dream builders have some big time lawyers and that people are always trying to sue and bring lawsuits against but none get past the lawyers. THat doesnt scare me at all though. Bye for now.

Re: Quixtar

Amazing. I just tapped back into your site and read the letter of the month. It is incredible how insightful and eloquent the people are who come to your conslusions, and how the only people you feature (who offer differing opinions from your) are ranting loons. If you were truly interested in telling the truth, you would publish some insightful, well written letters from people who have had success (in whatever way they define) with this business as well (in the letter of the month, not buried somewhere). Chalk one up for Ruth, you've brought another ambot into the light. As for me, I'm going to stick with the tapes, books functions and building my Quixtar business, because Quixtar will certainly be a major force in e-com. Unfortunately, I'll also suffer queitly with this year's income, which will top $150,000, up from $100,000 last year (NONE OF WHICH WAS FROM TOOLS). You want to talk about stress reduction, it felt great to get a $150 speeding ticket and not have to agonize over it like I did when I was making $37,000/year 4 years ago. Life goes on, and things happen, money isn't everything as we all know, it's just that I find it easier to deal with day to day uncertainty as well as help others when the money is there. By the way, my plan is to make about $400,000 next year, donating at least 25% of it to some causes my wife and I feel are important. It's great to be able to give away more than I made just 4 years ago. It may or may not help anyone else, but it sure will help my attitude !!

GO QUIXTAR !! Actually, it's not about Quixtar, it's about people with the courage to pursue a dream. As I undersatand it, 80% of the colonists were agianst getting into a revolutionary war - I'm glad GW didn't read your book first. GET A DREAM !!

Re: Quixtar

Hi,

I just came from a Quixtar meeting this evening, and thought I'd search the Internet for another perspective on this "amazing opportunity." Your site provided exactly what I was looking for. I must admit, I went into that meeting very skeptical and came out very enthusiastic. Not because I'm stupid or gullible, but because my friend recently became an IBO and feels this is a great opportunity to supplement his income with a couple hundred dollars a month. This is a guy that can fall into a pile of crap, and come out with a brand new suit and smelling like a rose. He's a good friend and I generally respect his business "smarts." I'm the kind of guy that would pick the one loser out of 100 great investments. Neither of us are under the impression that we're going to make millions or retire by doing this, but we do hope to add a couple hundred dollars a month to our income.

I was surprised to learn that Quixtar is so closely associated with Amway, and that Microsoft and IBM seem to be less than "partners" in this venture. They made it seem as though they were the main reason this was started. In fact, the only specific mention that Amway got, was to be included as one of the DeVos and Van Andel ( I think those were their names? ) holdings and was called "that other company with the reputation."

Now, I must admit that I really don't know a lot about Amway, but I have always associated it with being bad or a rip-off. I don't know why it's bad, I just know it is. It's something I've had ingrained in my mind over the years. I have a very basic understanding of how it is structured and as soon as I saw them begin to diagram how I would make my fortune, I smelled Amway. Had I been there alone, I would have gotten up and left. Out of respect for my friend, I stayed and listened. To be honest, they got to me. By the end of the meeting, I was enthusiastic about this opportunity to "get in on the ground level." Still a little suspicious, I did a search on Quixtar and found your site. Thank you for being there. You provided much needed information on some of the "facts" they provided ( like the "million dollars in the first month" example ).

Now I've heard a little from both sides, and I wonder if you could try to answer some questions for me?

1- I'm still looking for a way to supplement my income. I know that I never would or could reach the "Platinum" or "Diamond" levels they talked about, because I just don't think I want to get that involved. But is it reasonable to think I could make a couple hundred dollars a month from this? I'm not looking to retire or make a million, but a hundred a month from this is a hundred more I could add to pay off a bill.

2- What are some of the "hidden" costs I could be on the look out for? They claim the start up is "under $300" ( I think the actual figure was $240, but I'm not positive ) but I'm certain there must be other costs involved in this. Invest $300 to make hundreds of thousands of dollars? I'm not that naive.

3- I feel like I'm only scratching the surface with this. Amway must have been ingrained in my mind as a rip-off for a reason, yet there is no denying the explosive rate at which the Internet is growing. It really does seem like a great way to make some money, I just don't know if this is the way to do it. Do you have any words of wisdom? Should I run now and never look back? Is this a total rip-off?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I expect to get with my friend to "enroll" soon, so the sooner you can get back to me, the better. Unless your advice is to run for your life, I'm sure that I'll have more questions the further this goes. I hope you wouldn't mind if I write again. If you can't answer the questions, and I never hear from you again, let me at least thank you for providing the information and opinions that you do on your web site. Thank you again....

Sincerely,

Re: Quixtar/Markerman

Good morning Ruth Thanks for the info on Markerman. I ran into this guy at a fast food and he was hyping this gal. NAturally overhearing and mention of website caught my attention as I am currently setting up websites for several business ventures. (none MLM) I couldn't find out but ask,com gave me some info on Markerman and one site mentioned Amway. (I did Amway) at least 30 years ago. Still have the black plastic boxs which I use to store greeting cards and other things. Thank again, your doing good work. A real fancy car could be parked in my driveway, if I had all the money I have l"LOST" in MLM. For years I had planned a MLM connected with Single Dating but have put it on the side. Now living in Florida instead of New York, it doesn't seem as necessary.

Stay in touch, we may have other things to discuss.

Re: Amway/Quixtar

Hi-

I stopped by your site and I'd like to point out some agreements and disagreements about Amway/Quixtar:

1. Many of the statistics you point out are (probably) true or very close to accurate. There are very few upline who are Diamonds, Emeralds etc. etc. There are however, very few CEOs of IBM. The only deception I have seen (been with Amway/Quixtar for 4 years) is the result of individual distributors making bad choices.

2. Amway/Quixtar gives people a business model to follow. Although some upline may claim this will help you get rich quick, if you don't do the work and are not good at business (or get the help of someone who is) you may very likely not do well. These people probably would not do well in other business's either, but this is not always the case. Bottom line: it takes work and time to make money in this or anything. My experience with upline has always been no promises for getting rich, only the promise of a business model to follow, and advice along the way. I currently run a non-mlm corporation, and I am not in the "upper" echelon of Quixtar. I enjoy the business and make a modest income from it. I also enjoy many of the products, but certainly not all.

3. I am not going to ask you all the whiny "why are you doing this?!" stuff! I think extreme emails going either way are quite ridiculous. I do think you should consider the opinions about un-opinionated sections or a section with pros AND cons listed in a table. Why? You may draw more people to your side by not putting them on the defensive right away. As Fox news tries to claim, "give the facts and let the you decide".

I wish you luck exercising your first amendment rights!!

Agreeing to Disagree---

Your stories are a bunch of lies and if you think you' ll get away you're wrong. It's just a matter of time but you've made yourselves subject of a eternal law. God does what he say's he does and you can read in Deuteronomie what he does with liars. So good luck to you and by the way you can't keep this business from happening either. No matter how many lies you spread. Sorry, you're no survivor, you're a looser.

Re: Excel

Hi, I am interested in the Excel MLM and want to know if there is anything I should be aware of before I do jump in.

Re: Amway/Quixtar

We were in Amway/Quixtar and quickly, but not quickly enough, got out. We figured out all the phonies "loving us" like they say they do, went to seminars, and functions. Ended up spending much more than we earned, and found lots of the catalog items at the local dollar store. But we were smart. We got all our money back, over $900 for tools, kits, etc. Not without some aggravation. Our upline emerald told us it was out of the goodness of his heart. Oh please!! Truth be told, they all make most of their income from the saps on the BSM's.. Now we are finally free.

Re: Quixtar

Do you have any current info on quixtar?

Re: Quixtar

How can you not say that 30-40 million hits for Quixtar everyday is not impressive??? If you owned that web-site you would be bouncing off the walls! If you did even 1/100 of the sales that they do you would be so wealthy, I think you should really look into what Quixtar has to offer before you can really judge it. After all have you ever been involved? Would you go to a plumber if you wanted to find out if you need surgery? I think you definitely wrote this article without even knowing the facts and you should be ashamed of yourself.
